New Energy & Power Solutions Business Unit

Rittal is repositioning itself for the energy market of the future

A new business unit has been established: On 1 August, Rittal inaugurated a separate business unit for the energy market. Rittal’s new “Energy & Power Solutions” business unit is laying the foundations for the further technical and sales expansion of its activities in the growing energy sector. The company is supporting the time and cost-saving enlargement of enclosure and IT infrastructure systems for the successful transformation of energy systems to the Smart Grid.

The energy sector is being transformed. At the same time, the technical requirements for the sustainable use of resources, as well as the establishment of decentralised power generators or charging infrastructures for electromobility, are increasing. Transforming energy systems to create the Smart Grid requires that systems are intelligently networked together. The ability of companies in the industry to adapt to this change more quickly and flexibly than before and to continuously improve solutions is now more critical than ever. New strategies are called for.

Systematically developing expertise

In establishing the new “Energy & Power Solutions” business unit, Rittal is sending out a clear signal and is bundling its expertise in the energy industry that it has accumulated in numerous successful projects over several decades. “With this new business unit, we are expanding our expertise in products and solutions for the energy market. We aim to continue developing and improving solutions in dialogue with our customers and to bring these solutions to market even more quickly than before,” says Uwe Scharf, Rittal’s Managing Director of Business Units and Marketing. To this end, Rittal has organised collaboration between experts from Product Management Power Solutions and Industry Management Energy.

Making use of a tremendous wealth of experience

Nowadays, one can find products and solutions from Rittal in every sector of the energy industry – from energy generation and transmission to consumption. The range extends from enclosure, power distribution and climate control technology and through to IT infrastructure solutions and software solutions from Eplan for system planning and global service. “There are many opportunities for our customers in the energy sector. In addition to the general growth of the energy sector, a considerable potential is also arising from the continuing shift to renewable energies,” explains Uwe Scharf.

Fast and secure

Rittal, with its many years of expertise in the energy market and an innovative range of solutions, is supporting the implementation of measures to save time and costs along the entire value chain, from engineering to the efficient and partially automated construction of electrical switchgear, right through to service. “Rittal offers enclosure and IT infrastructure systems for expanding energy systems. We are making processes fast and plants safe,” Uwe Scharf emphasises. The company is the global market leader for enclosure systems in wind turbines and partner to countless energy suppliers, planners and plant constructors. Solutions from Rittal are found in every type of power generation system, in transformer stations, low-voltage switchgear in the electromobility charging infrastructure, and in energy storage applications.

From digital twin to safe operation

For safe and flexible power distribution, for example, the company offers VX25 Ri4Power low-voltage switchgear for machines and systems, as well as the RiLine busbar system for DC and AC applications. Smart engineering tools and configurators make it simple to efficiently plan control and switchgear systems, as well as automatically generate documentation and design verifications. Highly efficient cooling units minimise internal consumption in both power generation and transmission. Rittal’s IT infrastructure solutions warrant the trouble-free operation of critical IT applications for secure energy supplies, right through to secure solutions from its sister company German Edge Cloud.
