RiLineX – the modular 60-millimetre busbar system for every application
In RiLineX, Rittal has created an innovative busbar system which satisfies even the most demanding busbar distribution requirements – manufacturer-neutral, licence-free and suitable for universal use. The modular system assembly enables fast, secure, flexible power distribution in control cabinet production for the building and IT infrastructure. An upgraded version of the popular RiLine60 busbar, RiLineX sets new standards in electrical engineering – with time savings of up to 75 percent for assembly and up to 30 percent more efficient engineering.
The powerful basis for modern power distribution
The RiLineX busbar system is based on the globally popular 60-mm standard for flat copper bars and impresses users with its high short-circuit resistance of up to 65 kA. The modular assembly can supply power in both a horizontal and a vertical direction. The platform remains fully top-mountable and delivers comprehensive contact hazard protection up to IP 2XB, upgradable to IP 3X. The busbar system is also easily and flexibly installed in the enclosure, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial power distribution applications.
RiLineX – Simple, modular system architecture
RiLineX embodies a clearly structured system architecture with intelligently coordinated components. The basic elements are available in a variety of lengths, in 200, 100 and 54 millimetres, and feature built-in insulation at the rear. They may be secured directly to the mounting plate.
The basic segments are complemented by plug-in contact hazard protection and standardised copper busbars, optionally also available in cuponal or aluminium, which integrate seamlessly into the structure. It is finished off with end caps which not only secure the copper bars but also ensure standard-compliant completion of the board to IEC 61439 and UL 509.
Safety at the highest level – Contact hazard protection in tested quality
RiLineX is synonymous with maximum operational reliability. The built-in contact hazard protection meets protection category IP 2XB (finger-safe) as standard, upgradable on request to IP 3X, whereby the copper bars are fully covered. This means you can continue to work even when the system is live. The system is tested to international standards and short circuit-protected to a maximum of 65 kA. It is suitable for AC applications up to 1000 V and DC applications up to 1500 V. There are also numerous compatible busbar connection adaptors, component adaptors and energy monitoring components, all available from your one-stop supplier, Rittal!
RiLineX available as a direct board or individually configurable
Opt for a pre-configured direct board in common enclosure widths 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 millimetres or configure it to your specific requirements with our RiPower planning software. Our cloud-based application supports you efficiently and intuitively through the entire planning process in sequential, logical steps until your system is complete.
Fast assembly and installation with the RiLineX modular principle
The modular design means the RiLineX busbar system is assembled without the need for tools. The individual components slot seamlessly into a thoughtfully designed complete solution.
- Prepare and connect the basic elements: Begin by joining the basic elements together. The modular design means they are easily joined together by hand – no tools whatsoever are required. The individual modules snap securely together to provide the basis for subsequent assembly.
- Insert the flat copper bars: Next, lay the flat copper bars into the prepared board. First, position the bars on the “step” of the basic element, press down, and secure with the appropriate end caps. This step guarantees that the busbars are secure and stable.
- Fit the contact hazard protection: Next, position the contact hazard protection covers on the board. They snap effortlessly into place and are secured by the built-in locking brackets. The design ensures reliable protection to IP 2XB – optionally upgradable to IP 3X – for enhanced safety during subsequent commissioning.
- Fit the board in the enclosure: Simply locate the prepared board onto the screws provided in the enclosure. Next, tighten the screws with a screwdriver, and your busbar system is securely and precisely fitted.
- Configure the busbar system: The final step is to configure the board with your preferred component adaptors, fuses and other components. These are quickly and flexibly installed to your specific requirements.
To dismantle, simply use a screwdriver to loosen the locking brackets of the components. Devices may then be removed from the board and, where applicable, supplemented with other components.
Extendible horizontally or vertically
Not only will RiLineX impress you with its flexible horizontal and vertical mounting; baying the system is just as straightforward as the assembly itself.
- To do so, remove the relevant end cap and insert an additional insulating plate between the two busbars.
- Slide the baying connectors – available for sizes E-Cu 15 x 5 to 30 x 10 millimetres – onto each copper bar from above, and tighten the screw.
- Next, position the appropriate front cover on the connections – and voilà, your busbar support has been extended.
Efficient engineering design – with RiLineX
The RiLineX busbar system offers significant benefits with project planning and execution. With time savings of up to 30 percent in engineering and assembly times cut by up to 75 percent, projects can be executed faster and more efficiently. The thoughtfully designed assembly logic, coupled with a streamlined portfolio, makes the entire planning and procurement process easier. With global approvals to IEC 61439 and UL 508, the busbar system is also suitable for international use.
Open-system and future-proof – Manufacturer-neutral and licence-free
Our RiLineX busbar support is an open, licence-free platform designed to be manufacturer-neutral. It is compatible with all common technologies and supports the integration of a wide range of components from our numerous technology partners. As all technical data from the busbar system and components is available, no specialist product knowledge is required, for even easier planning and execution. In this way, you benefit from maximum flexibility and future-proofing.
Downward-compatible power distribution for the RiLine60
Downward compatibility means the RiLineX is easily integrated into existing systems, as the construction and length may be freely designed within the system pitch pattern. Smaller busbar formats from 15 x 5 millimetres may also be used, thanks to automatic width adjustment and integral busbar thickness compensation. What’s more, no special copper busbars are required, because we use the standard flat copper busbars that are freely available worldwide, either as part of a complete set or added separately.
Key differences from the RiLine60
With RiLineX, Rittal has unveiled the next generation of busbar systems boasting several significant improvements on all previous 60 millimetre busbar systems. Whilst on the previous platform, the busbar support hole distance was dependent on the length of the board, with RiLineX, the hole distances are pre-defined and integrated into the base element. Additional spacer supports for contact hazard protection are no longer required, as they too are already incorporated into the base system. This has created the first ever continuously top-mountable busbar – for added flexibility and efficiency in enclosure construction.
RiLineX sets new standards: With the previous RiLine60 busbar system, the base tray and contact hazard protection had to be cut manually to size. This was not just extremely time-consuming, particularly for areas between the individual supports, but also wasteful with materials. The new RiLineX allows tool-free, precise-fit installation without any pre- or post-machining. The contact hazard protection snaps easily onto the base segment, and spacer supports are no longer required. The new design reliably prevents the cover from dipping towards the copper bars.
