Rittal’s new RiLineX busbar system has been named "Panel Product of the Year 2026" by leading UK industry title, Panel Building & System Integration (PBSI).
The magazine launched its inaugural Panel Product of the Year award to recognise technologies that are making a significant contribution to the panel building sector.
Readers voted for their favourite entry, and RiLineX won after securing an impressive 9,442 votes!
What is Rittal’s RiLineX system?
RiLineX builds on two decades of Rittal’s experience with RiLine60 busbar system technology. It has been designed to simplify the process of designing and assembling power distribution systems.
RiLineX was designed around a standardised 60mm busbar platform, supporting AC and DC applications across industrial control, switchgear, and renewable energy installations. The system supports ratings up to 800 A, 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC, with short-circuit resistance up to 65 kA.
It means panel builders can reduce assembly time by up to 75%, while engineering through Eplan can shorten design times by up to 30%, meaning that it significantly speeds-up project turnarounds.
Safety has been prioritised and aligned with international standards. IP2XB contact hazard protection is included as standard, and there is an option to upgrade to IP3X to reduce any risks to engineers during installation and maintenance.
Panel builders can specify pre-assembled, ready-to-install boards or configure RiLineX in kit form to meet individual project requirements. Its modular structure supports different board lengths, copper sizes and ratings, with the flexibility to expand existing installations as requirements change. Its tool-free assembly reduces the skilled work required during panel construction, allowing panel builders to deploy experienced employees where their knowledge contributes most to the business.
RiLineX can be installed horizontally, vertically, or overhead, and extended across multiple enclosures, while its backwards compatibility with RiLine60 will simplify existing system upgrades.
The entire system is open license to allow manufacturers to develop breakers, surge protection devices and CTs that connect directly to the board, removing the need for separate adaptors where compatible components are available.
RiLineX endorsed by UK panel builders
Peter Sowerby, RiLineX Product Manager at Rittal, says: “We’re delighted that PBSI readers have chosen RiLineX as their Panel Product of the Year. Receiving thousands of votes from people working within the panel building industry makes this recognition particularly meaningful.
“We wanted this new system to vastly improve standardisation, pre-engineered adapters, digital product data, Eplan integration, and the RiPower configurator. Knowing that industry professionals recognise these practical benefits is very rewarding.”
