Depending on your application there are a number of enclosure options that can deliver your needs in an efficient and intelligent manner. However, the intricacies of your application play a strong role in the type of cooling that should be implemented and why.
Recently a Canadian manufacturer in the Food & Beverage industry approached Rittal. They had tight production timelines and could not afford downtime but were also focused on reducing their energy consumption by upwards of 20% and implementing a solution that would both lower costs and provide a more stable solution than the legacy system they were currently operating.
Rittal engineers assessed the facility and the varying operations. It is important to note that temperature fluctuations were regular within this facility depending on the item currently in production, as well as being in a northern climate with seasonal temperature swings.
Rittal engineers identified that Blue e+ cooling units would meet the client’s flexibility and energy-saving goals. In addition, implementing the Blue e+ cooling units provided operational security by helping prevent downtime caused by temperature issues within the enclosure, while also allowing remote monitoring of fluctuations.
The Blue e+ cooling units were able to achieve these results thanks to their innovative hybrid technology, which combines conventional compression cooling with a heat pipe system. This design allows for substantial energy savings compared to traditional cooling units. Since the system does not require compressors or pumps during passive operation, energy consumption is limited primarily to the fans.
The standard layout of the Blue e+ units also allowed for direct outfitting within existing systems accommodating a rapid implementation of the solution and substantial cost savings in both material and installation.
After reviewing the installation several months later, the company noted that the solution enhanced their energy efficiency and significantly reduced manufacturing energy costs. They also gained greater peace of mind knowing their enclosures can adapt to fluctuating temperatures.
