Technical Specifications

The enclosure and switchgear manufacturer obtains customer data and validates it with regard to the availability of article data, completeness and suitability for all downstream processes, such as those in engineering and work preparation. The data may need to be prepared accordingly. All necessary enclosure options and the additional process steps associated with these options are also identified.

Product Functions Design

The wiring schematic is both the standard-compliant functional description of the required automation technology – a machine or system – and the basis for numerous process steps during product manufacture, including production of the enclosure for the control technology. It is prepared using specially developed ECAD solutions and is a fundamental part of the machine or “as-built” product documentation.

Checking & Correcting

The wiring schematic is checked to ensure it is both complete and correct and complies with the relevant standards before being made available for subsequent processes. This avoids errors in downstream processes – during unambiguous component designation or the complete description of electrical connections, for example. Ideally, this takes place automatically with support from the ECAD software.

Mechanical Infrastructure

Taking into account customer requirements, location, environmental conditions and the space needed to install the electrical and fluid technology components specified in the wiring schematic, the appropriate type of enclosure is selected and dimensioned, and the necessary accessories added.

Digital Twin

The digital twin is used to create a virtual 3D model of the enclosure based on all engineering data. It offers a whole host of possibilities for manual process steps and also for automating and digitalizing process steps during enclosure manufacturing, such as machining, cable fabrication, wiring and terminal assembly.

The digital twin contains all information relating to downstream processes and makes this available for each process step, in the necessary detail and at the appropriate time. It is therefore a key element in digitalization and the basis for optimising, automating and streamlining enclosure manufacturing processes.

Thermal Design & Dimensioning

Customer requirements, ambient conditions at the installation site, electrical engineering components and their power dissipation, and the specified assembly layout of the digital twin define the framework for configuring and dimensioning the optimum climate control solution and the correct distribution of air flows.
