Lifecycle IT
As evolving organisms, data centres are in a constant state of flux. They need to be flexible to keep pace with your company’s changing requirements. Rittal Lifecycle IT with its comprehensive portfolio of solutions will support you through all four phases of your data centre’s lifecycle: From planning and implementation through to operation and optimisation of an IT infrastructure in multiple locations.
Design
Once the concept has been developed, we select the appropriate solution modules and calculate the investment (CAPEX) and operating costs (OPEX). These are presented to the client in the form of a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
Implementation
The physical infrastructure (electricity, cooling, monitoring, security) is set up. IT components (server, storage, switches) may optionally be integrated by Rittal and our partners. This is followed by commissioning and sign-off.
Operation
The data centre may be operated either by the client or by our partners as a managed service.
Optimisation
We analyse the efficiency, costs and sustainability of the installed solution and draw conclusions about the data centre’s potential for optimisation.

Lefdal Mine Datacenter (LMD)
The LMD on Norway’s west coast sets new standards. The five-storey tunnel system covering an area of 120,000 m² has a total capacity of 200 MW. It is powered exclusively by renewable energy and cooled by water from a nearby fjord. Compared to a cloud data centre in Germany, for example, significant cost savings of up to 40 % are achievable. What’s more, the facility is highly secure. The rock formation provides natural protection from electromagnetic waves, and the facility itself is only accessible from two points of entry.
