Shielding against particularly intensive electromagnetic interference fields

Particularly intensive electromagnetic interference fields can arise, for example, with microwave drying, spark erosion systems and high-frequency welding systems. Regular Rittal standard enclosures are often insufficient in such cases. Instead, we recommend use of the Rittal EMC enclosure.

How we achieve a high shielding effect

The exterior surfaces of the enclosures are connected to one another in an electrically conductive, largely slot-free manner using a conductive special seal. The interior surfaces and sealing edges remain paint-free. Aluminium zinc coating of the base material achieves corrosion protection.

Any enclosure in use is only as good as its machining!

Where cut-outs exist for viewing areas and climate control, care must be taken to preserve the shielding effect (shielded windows, wire meshes, honeycomb structure).

    The screening attenuation diagram superimposes the weakening of the fields by the enclosure on a logarithmic scale in relation to frequency.

  • 20 dB screening attenuation corresponds to a weakening by a factor of 10
  • 40 dB screening attenuation corresponds to a weakening by a factor of 100
  • 60 dB screening attenuation corresponds to a weakening by a factor of 1000
  • etc.
