A top-tier football stadium with a capacity of over 8,000 is being built in the Swiss city of Schaffhausen. The multifunctional stadium is also suitable for other large-scale events and retail/office space is available to rent around the outside. The huge in-roof photovoltaic system generates a significant proportion of the power required. The professional team from Swiss company Pezag Elektro AG was responsible for designing and implementing the energy distribution system for the new stadium. Power needs to be supplied and controlled all over a stadium for everything from lighting and catering to entry, watering and fire safety systems. Certified, flexible end-to-end solutions
Planning the energy distribution for the stadium building, the infrastructure requirements and controlling all the installations make a project of this kind a highly complex undertaking. The Schaffhausen stadium’s power is fed from a large main distributor to around 25 sub-distributors from where it is dispersed for light, heat or cooling and to operate the various installations throughout the facility. Strict regulations are in place and only certified components can be used. The building automation – controlling everything from the building services to the stadium lighting – was also very challenging.
Pezag Elektro AG enlisted Rittal’s help to meet the stringent requirements. The system supplier assisted with all energy distribution and control planning as well as product selection. It supplied an Ri4Power ISV installation distributor with new enclosures, TS 8 enclosures, four roof-mounted fans with EC technology, a modular climate control concept, NH disconnectors, section doors and Maxi-PLS systems.
