Innovative LED technology replaces fluorescent tube
The new EU Ecodesign Directive
The EU has defined a series of measures under the Ecodesign Directive designed to improve energy efficiency in the lighting sector and ensure the sparing, sustainable handling of resources.
Regulation EU 245/2009 imposes limits on the energy consumption of lamps, luminaires and ballasts, irrespective of their technology.
Phase three of this Directive is now due to enter into force on 13 April 2017, and applies to all EU Member States.
From this date onwards, only products which meet the energy efficiency levels of EU 245/2009 phase three may be offered for sale on this market.
This affects our standard lights, which fall short of the minimum efficiency level for ballast required by phase three. After 13 April 2017, these products can no longer be offered for sale within the EU.
Further information may be found in Regulation (EC) No 245/2009 .
