Extreme conditions demand robust solutions. With that in mind, Rittal has continued to further develop, refine and improve its Blue e+ cooling unit range. The upshot and most advanced result: Blue e+ Dynamic. Thanks to their sturdy physical construction, these cooling units are especially suitable for use in many industry sectors that involve dynamic conditions and episodes, for example in the maritime industry, in logistics and at airports. Reliability? For sure. It’s guaranteed and endorsed with accreditation: Certification to DNV-CG-0339.
What does DNV certification entail?
DNV certification is recognised globally as a mark of quality and safety and guarantees the reliability of components and systems with regard to those hazards and risks faced at sea and serves as the de facto benchmark reference in the marine and offshore sector. Our Blue e+ Dynamic cooling units have demonstrated and proved complete compliance with DNV’s strict quality and safety criteria. As standard.
The independent test laboratory Phoenix Testlab subjected Rittal Blue e+ Dynamic cooling units to a comprehensive series of testing and evaluation protocols. A sine-sweep test was followed by broadband noise testing over the entire frequency range. Units were vibrated for a total of 7.5 hours, namely for 2.5 hours for each spatial axis. Next, they were moved on to a climate chamber, where they were required to endure several temperature cycles, including cycles at high humidity levels. The test series was concluded with simulated ship movements and EMC measurements addressing both interference emissions and immunity.
The Blue e+ Dynamic cooling units have consequently been successfully tested against the following criteria and parameters:
- Temperature resistance to Class A
- Humidity exposure to Class B
- Vibration resistance to Class A
- EMC compatibility to Class A
The tests were carried out using units with power output ratings of 1.0 and 1.6 kW, and 2.0 and 2.6 kW.
Your benefits:
- Cost savings and improved environmental footprint and credentials thanks to high energy efficiency (SEER value > 6.2)
- Improved operational reliability, predictive maintenance and less downtime thanks to real-time monitoring via Ethernet in conjunction with an IoT interface
- Ultimate flexibility thanks to the lack of need for any significant infrastructure modifications – even in cases of retrofits to existing systems
- Maximum safety thanks to the high protection rating of IP 55 (internal circulation) and the integration of condensate evaporation as standard
- Simple design, planning, installation and operation thanks to useful online-tools and smart interfaces
Industries and fields of application for Blue e+ Dynamic cooling units
Whether vibration from the ship’s diesel engines, the erratic and volatile swell of the ocean waves or heat and humidity – the engine room is in every sense an extreme environment. Switchgear systems and their cooling solutions must be designed accordingly to withstand them.
In high-bay warehouses, storage and retrieval robots, trucks and other loading equipment are constantly in motion – moving up and down and back and forth along the aisles. It is imperative that the enclosures and cooling units mounted on the robots are particularly vibration-resistant.
A typical airport baggage conveyor comprises several conveyor sections linked to each other at hub points. Several tonnes of baggage are handled every day. The adjacent switchgear must be unaffected by and resistant to vibration and sudden impacts.
Blue e+: A unique technology that makes a real difference
Blue e+ stands for a globally unrivalled and unequalled technology, characterised by extended lifetimes for the installed components thanks to reduced temperature fluctuations, by its suitability for worldwide use and by IoT integration.
Its stand-out and distinctive aspect is the innovative hybrid technology: Two parallel cooling circuits which can operate either independently of one another or together, depending on the temperature variation. An active cooling circuit with variable-speed components delivers demand-driven cooling. As soon as the ambient temperature falls below the specified setpoint, the integrated heat pipe takes over and provides passive cooling of the enclosure. This permits energy savings on average of 75% per unit.
